A 5 STAAR Oppsie
It is finally May! STAAR testing is almost done for the state. For those of you who don’t know the STAAR testing is the state of Texas standardized test. It is based on the state curriculum in subjects math, science, social studies, and language arts. Designed to gage the student comprehension and determine if they are ready for the next grade.
Does it work as intended ? I don’t know. For the last 3 years STAAR testing makes my children cry. I tell them not to stress and it doesn’t show who you are as a person. Try their best and that’s all I can ask of them. BUT DUDE… the amount of pressure they feel from the teachers to pass is enormous and I hate it.
But they do chalk the sidewalk and make posters telling encouraging them to try their best. That is cute to see.
But I digress…
Mornings of the testing it is encouraged that they eat something. For my not breakfast eaters this poses as a problem. So what do I do. I got up early and made them their favorite weekend breakfast meals.
Where do the 5 STAAR oppsie come in? My never fail recipe for waffle sticks made a super fail mess. It tasted good but it looked like this:
Leaning tower of waffle sticks? The waffle crumble?
It was yummy even though it looked like this.
What happened to it? Making things gluten free can be a pain in the rear…I didn’t let the batter sit long enough.

The only thing I regret not buying is another waffle stick pan.
