To Kill a Cook: A Novel Written by W.M. Akers.
What’s the Scoop?
To Kill a Cook written by W.M. Akers was a fast-paced murder mystery. Centered around a quick-witted New Yorker named Bernice Black. She seemingly has it all- a job writing about food, a fiancé and working to be the greatest stepmother of the year. The restaurant world knows her as BB Black food critic. When she is tasked with hosting a birthday party for her husband to be, she stops by her all-time favorite restaurant of friend and mentor chef Laurent Tirel. Laurent's is the place to be...or is it? When she walks into the legendary kitchen she finds more than she bargained for. For the world-renowned chef's severed head is found in a mold of aspic...giving meat jelly a whole new meaning.
It's New York 1972, the police department is well questionable. Bernice takes on the dirty underground of New Yorks Finest's: Chefs, Mobsters, Police and all...can BB Black handle the case, juggle motherhood, the party, and catch a killer? Unlike Judy Hopps*...Bernice has a week to solve this crime. Will she come out on top or is this a recipe for disaster. Find out more in To Kill a Cook by W.M. Akers releasing February 6, 2026.
