The Good Vampires Guide to Blood & Boyfriends: An Advanced Listening Copy Experience.

Life had been hectic (still is)…but there was time for an audiobook. Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an Advanced Listening Copy of The Good Vampires Guide to Blood and Boyfriends. These thoughts are my own and freely given.

The Good Vampires Guide to Blood & Boyfriends written by Jamie D’Amato Releasing August 26, 2025.

What was described as paranormal romantic comedy where Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Heartstopper…I was immediately hooked. My attention grabbed so much that I had missed that this novel was queer. Not only did I miss that it was queer, I had sent in an immediate request to “read” not “listen” to the book. To my surprise I was rewarded access to this wonderful book. In which now I had to download another app to listen to it. I strongly contemplated returning this book and expressing that I was severely stressed out and had missed that it was an audio book….and trying to listen to an audio book in a hotel full of my children arguing about air, this was not the greatest opportunity for me to give my full attention to this novel with sincerest apologies.

Thankfully my luck changed, and I could wait till we moved into a house before I started listening to the book.

Did I Mention that it was My First?

It was my first queer novel.

It was my first audio book through NetGalley. ( Not my first from Macmillan Audio…I love them)

My first Advanced Listening Copy! (Also lovingly known as ALCs)

My first novel from Jamie D’ Amato.

My first novel diving into the topic of suicide and recovery.

The Experience…Short answer lovely.

The Good Vampire Guide to Blood & Boyfriends audiobook was narrated by Michael Crouch. Who’s voice perfectly matched my envisioned character of Brennan. A nineteen-year-old college student, who suddenly wakes up with vampirism? (Yes, the question mark is intended) He finds himself in the campus’s library who happens to have the campus’s most wanted cute librarian, Cole. Struggling with life as a newly developing vampire and thoughts of his human life…this story is absolutely relatable and adorable. I for one am not a vampire, however…I can relate to being awkward, anxious, depressed, and detailed oriented with struggles of life.

Would I Recommend the Book?

Yes, I would recommend this novel who wants a sweet romantic comedy.

Would I Recommend Audiobooks on NetGalley?

Yes!

Overall:

I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to listen to The Good Vampires Guide to Blood & Boyfriends. I am sincerely grateful I had stepped out of my chaos to experience many firsts for me. Thank you again NetGalley and Macmillan Audio.
